Rakim Athelaston Mayers (born October 3, 1988) was born in New York, United States. He is an American rapper, record producer and record executive. He began his music career as a member of the hip hop collective ASAP Mob. He is professionally known as ASAP Rocky (Always Strive And Prosper Rocky).
In 2011, Rocky's single "Peso" leaked online and quickly gained widespread attention. It received significant airplay on various radio stations, which helped him gain popularity and recognition. He then released his debut mixtape, Live. Love. A$AP, which was a critical success and helped him secure a joint venture record deal with Polo Grounds Music and RCA Records.
Rocky's debut studio album, Long. Live. A$AP, released in 2013, debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 chart and was later certified double platinum by the RIAA. The album was a commercial and critical success, thanks to its hit single, "fμcκ¡n' Problems," featuring Drake, 2 Chainz, and Kendrick Lamar, which received a Grammy nomination for Best Rap Song.
