Chase Atlantic is an Australian alternative R&B band and production trio that was formed in 2014 in Cairns, Queensland. The group comprises three members, including Mitchel Cave, who is the lead vocalist, bass guitarist, and programmer, Clinton Cave, who is responsible for production, lead guitar, tenor saxophone, backing vocals, and programming, and Christian Anthony, who handles rhythm guitar, lead vocals, and programming.
Before forming Chase Atlantic, Christian Anthony and Mitchel Cave were part of a boy band known as What About Tonight. The duo created the band to audition for season 4 of The X Factor Australia. Unfortunately, they were eliminated in week two and came in eleventh place. It was not until Clinton Cave recruited Mitchel and Christian to help him record a university project that the trio started making music under the name Chase Atlantic.
The band's name is derived from two words that the members admired, namely, "Chase" and "Atlantic." According to Mitchel Cave, the name holds no particular meaning, and they spent several minutes attempting to come up with a profound explanation for their band name. Nevertheless, the name has become synonymous with the band's unique sound and style, which is an amalgamation of alternative rock, R&B, and electronic music.
Since its formation, Chase Atlantic has released seven EPs and three albums, which have garnered critical acclaim and a substantial following. The band has also received recognition for its exceptional music, having won the AAA Rising Star Award in 2018. With their dynamic sound and electrifying live performances, Chase Atlantic continues to make waves in the music industry and is a band to watch out for in the coming years.
