Album Overview

"Charm" is the third studio album by American singer-songwriter Clairo, released on July 12, 2024. This album follows her second album, "Sling," which came out in 2021. Unlike her previous albums, which were released by Fader and Republic Records, "Charm" is her first self-released album. Clairo worked with producer Leon Michels on this album. Many musicians contributed to the project, including Nick Movshon, Homer Steinweiss, Marco Benevento, and Dave Guy. Clairo announced two residencies in support of the album. The Los Angeles residency will take place at the Fonda Theatre, and the New York residency will be at Webster Hall in September.

Clairo's second album, "Sling," received critical acclaim when it was released on July 16, 2021. It appeared on many "best albums of 2021" lists. Critics praised Clairo for her artistic growth and thoughtful songwriting on "Sling," which explored themes like future motherhood, domestic life, and the responsibilities of being a caregiver. In 2022, Clairo went on tour to promote "Sling." During the tour, she faced health challenges, including sinus infections and an ear injury. Despite these difficulties, she completed the tour on October 4, 2022.

In 2023, Clairo worked with other artists, such as Phoenix and Beabadoobee. She also released two charity singles on Bandcamp. The first single, "For Now," raised money for Everytown for Gun Safety and For The Gworls. The second single, "Lavender," aimed to support Doctors Without Borders during the Israel–Hamas war. Additionally, Clairo released a live EP titled "Live at Electric Lady" on May 12, 2023.

The first single from "Charm," called "Sexy to Someone," was released on May 23, 2024. Uproxx described the track as "flirty," while Rolling Stone called it "a summer stunner with cozy production and whimsical instrumentation." The second and last single from the album, "Nomad," was released on June 28, 2024.

In January 2024, Clairo began hinting at a new album with an Instagram post captioned "maybe this year." In March, she posted emojis that suggested her third studio album was finished. On May 7, she revealed through Instagram Stories that her new music would be released on May 23.

On May 23, Clairo announced the album's title, "Charm," and its release date, July 12, 2024. She also released the lead single, "Sexy to Someone," on the same day. A press release described "Charm" as "a collection of warm, '70s-inspired grooves that move smoothly between jazz, psychedelic folk, and soul."
