Album Overview
"Rainbows" is the fifth studio album by Romanian pop singer Alexandra Stan, released on April 29, 2022, via Universal Music. This album was her first in four years since Mami (2018). The album was highly anticipated, with eight singles released before its launch, including "I Think I Love It," "Obsesii," "Come Into My World" with Nervo, and "Bad at Hating You."
Stan began promoting the album in June 2019 with the release of "I Think I Love It," after spending time in the U.S. and signing new record deals with Universal Music Romania and MediaPro Music. In January 2020, she released "Obsesii," a Romanian-language song about love turning into obsession, which was praised by critics. She followed it with "Take Me Home" in May 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic, and "Tikari," featuring Puerto Rican rapper LiToo, in August 2020.
During this period, Stan also participated in the Romanian show Masked Singer România and Survivor România 2021, though she left the latter for health reasons. She continued releasing singles like "Bandit," "Aleasă," and "Tembleque," each gaining traction in various European markets. In 2021, her collaboration with Nervo, "Come Into My World," became one of her most-streamed songs, and she closed the year with the single "Tokyo."
Ahead of the album’s release, Stan dropped "Bad at Hating You" and "Heal Your Soul," the latter in collaboration with Manuel Riva. Rainbows was praised by fans and critics for showcasing Stan's musical growth. To promote the album, special editions were released in Japan and Europe, with additional singles "Lie" and "It's My Life" hitting the airwaves throughout 2022.
Stan’s career, marked by a blend of pop, dance, and urban influences, continues to evolve as she remains an international music presence.
