AC/DC Bio & Journey

AC/DC, an iconic Australian rock band, was the brainchild of siblings Malcolm and Angus Young, formed in 1973. Their music, often labeled as hard rock, blues rock, or heavy metal, is simply dubbed "rock and roll" by the band. AC/DC's influence extends far and wide, with their sound cited as a pivotal influence on the emergence of the new wave of British heavy metal, inspiring bands like Def Leppard and Saxon. Recognizing their impact, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame welcomed them in 2003.

The band's journey has been marked by both triumph and tragedy. Following several lineup changes, they released their debut album "High Voltage" exclusively in Australia in 1975. It wasn't until "Let There Be Rock" in 1977 that their lineup stabilized, featuring the Young brothers, Phil Rudd, Cliff Williams, and the legendary Bon Scott on vocals. Tragedy struck in 1980 with Scott's untimely death, yet AC/DC forged ahead, enlisting Brian Johnson as their new frontman. Their tribute to Scott, "Back in Black" (1980), stands as one of the best-selling albums of all time.

Continuing to dominate the rock scene, AC/DC hit the top spot on the Billboard 200 with "For Those About to Rock" (1981). Despite lineup changes over the years, including Rudd's departure and subsequent return, the band saw commercial resurgence in the 1990s with "The Razors Edge" (1990).
