Adekunle Gold, born Adekunle Kosoko on January 28, 1987, is a talented Nigerian singer, songwriter, and graphic designer from Lagos. Growing up in a music-loving family, he developed an early passion for singing. He studied Arts and Design at Lagos State Polytechnic and worked as a freelance graphic designer before fully pursuing his music career.
In 2014, Adekunle Gold gained attention by posting cover songs on social media. This led to his signing with YBNL Nation, a prominent Nigerian record label owned by rapper Olamide. His debut single, “Sade,” released in 2015, became an instant hit and helped him earn widespread recognition.
In 2016, Adekunle Gold released his debut album, Gold, which included popular tracks like “Pick Up” and “Orente.” The album received positive reviews and earned him awards, including Best Alternative Song at the 2016 Headies Awards.
After leaving YBNL Nation in 2017, Adekunle Gold established his own label, Afro Urban Record. Under this label, he released his second album, About 30, in 2018, which featured collaborations with artists like Flavour and Seun Kuti.
Adekunle Gold’s music blends highlife with contemporary sounds, earning him a dedicated fanbase and critical acclaim. His singles such as “Ire,” “Promise,” and “Young Love” continue to be fan favorites. He also won Best African Artist at the 2017 AIM Awards and has received numerous other nominations.
