Andre Romell Young (born February 18, 1965) was born in Compton, California, United States. He is an American record producer, rapper, record executive, and actor. He is professionally known as Dr. Dre. He is a famous . Dr. Dre is the founder and CEO of Aftermath Entertainment and Beats Electronics. He also co-founded Death Row Records and was its president. His music career started in 1984 with the World Class Wreckin' Cru, but he became widely known as a member of the gangsta rap group N.W.A. This group used explicit lyrics to talk about the harsh realities of street life.
In the early 1990s, Dr. Dre was a key figure in creating and popularizing West Coast G-funk. This subgenre of hip hop is known for its heavy use of synthesizers and slow, deep beats. Dr. Dre's first solo album, The Chronic, was released in 1992 as the first major project of Death Row Records. This album made him one of the best-selling American music artists of 1993. He won a Grammy Award for Best Rap Solo Performance for the song "Let Me Ride." The album also featured the hit single "Nuthin' but a 'G' Thang" with Snoop Dogg.
