Tame Impala Bio & Journey

Tame Impala is a psychedelic music project created by Kevin Parker, an Australian multi-instrumentalist. Parker handles everything in the recording studio, from writing and recording to performing and producing all the music. When touring, Tame Impala is a full band, with Parker on vocals, guitar, and synthesizer. He is joined by Dominic Simper on guitar and synthesizer, Jay Watson on synthesizer, vocals, and guitar, Cam Avery on bass guitar, vocals, and synthesizer, and Julien Barbagallo on drums and vocals.

The band has strong ties with another Australian psychedelic rock group called Pond. They share members and often collaborate, with Nick Allbrook, who was once a live member of Tame Impala, being part of this connection. Initially, Tame Impala was signed to Modular Recordings, but they are now with Interscope Records in the U.S. and Fiction Records in the U.K.

Parker started Tame Impala in Perth in 2007. After releasing several singles and EPs, the debut album Innerspeaker came out in 2010. It did well in Australia, earning a gold certification and praise from critics. The second album, Lonerism, released in 2012, also received a lot of attention. It went platinum in Australia and was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Alternative Music Album.
