Three Days Grace is a rock band from Norwood, Ontario, Canada, originally formed in 1992 as Groundswell. They played locally before disbanding in 1995. In 1997, the band reformed with a new name, Three Days Grace, and eventually based themselves in Toronto. The founding members were Adam Gontier (vocals and guitar), Neil Sanderson (drums), and Brad Walst (bass). In 2003, Barry Stock joined as lead guitarist, completing the lineup.
The band gained massive success with their self-titled debut album in 2003, followed by One-X in 2006 and Life Starts Now in 2009. These albums achieved platinum certifications in the U.S. and Canada, with One-X being particularly celebrated for its emotional depth and anthemic tracks like “Animal I Have Become” and “Never Too Late.” Their later albums include Transit of Venus (2012), Human (2015), Outsider (2018), and Explosions (2022), showcasing a mix of hard rock and experimentation.
The band’s music often deals with themes of pain, resilience, and personal struggles, resonating with a wide audience. They have scored 17 No. 1 hits on Billboard’s Mainstream Rock chart, cementing their place as one of the genre's most successful acts.
In 2013, Adam Gontier left the band and was replaced by Matt Walst, formerly of My Darkest Days. This lineup brought new energy to the group. A major change came in 2024 when Gontier rejoined, creating a dual-vocalist setup with Matt Walst, making the band a quintet for the first time.
Known for their intense live performances and relatable lyrics, Three Days Grace continues to influence modern rock. Their music has received both commercial success and critical acclaim, particularly for One-X, considered a standout in their discography.
